Did you know Avon recently put out their take on the holo polish craze? I didn't either until I saw a nail blogger post about how excited she was to receive hers. I was lucky--I was able to get my order in while they were on sale for $3.49 each! They're regularly priced at $6 but even that's a steal--good luck finding a good holo for that price unless you're really lucky and get in on a pre-order deal (where you sometimes have to buy the entire collection to really see any savings). At Sally's Beauty Supply, the China Glaze holograms are $7.99 with your member discount (regularly $7.99), and I thought that was steep! Granted, I'm willing to pay a little more for a polish I feel I really must have, like the Color Club holos I wanted but I am ridiculously cheap (and poor, haha) and didn't get those until I'd won an Amazon gift card that let me get them with nothing out of pocket on my part.

So, as you can imagine, I was pretty thrilled to get the Avon holos on sale. I picked up three colors: Aurora, Eclipse, and Starburst (and I'm kicking myself for not having picked up Moonbeam). Since my last mani was in a hot pink, I opted to try Eclipse, Avon's black holo. I really regret that it's a stormy day in central Texas today (and that I don't have a light box for good photos) because the pictures I tried to take just weren't doing the polish justice. The Avon holos are, at the very least, a cheaper, better alternative to the China Glaze holos. Is the Avon as holographic as the Color Club? No, but I do think they're nicer than the China Glaze line.

Avon's Eclipse, from their Cosmic holographic line. Taken indoors, with a flash.
It's not a great picture, but you can definitely see it's got the holographic goodness going on.

If you'd like to see a wonderful blog that swatches the whole collection, check out The Trace Face Philes Part I and The Trace Face Philes Part II. It was her pictures that made me regret not getting that silvery Moonbeam color....

ETA: The first coat was a little streaky but it evened out perfectly in two coats. I'll update later on the wear and tear of it, once I've had it on a few days.

Anyone out there not a fan of the holos? Or do you think this trend will stick around for awhile?
